Bastards. The game.
I have been quiet for a while now. This is due to an inordinate amount of stress in my life. I get stressed and forget that this is actually cathartic and helps me destress. So here goes a quick jaunt through one of my recent finds.
Bastards. Just go get it and play it. It is a quick set of rules with a roll under attribute system. It is quick. It takes some of the best parts of White Hack, Troika!, and other OSR inspired games, and reimagines them in a way that really jives with my Refereeing style. there are plenty of gaps to be filled and this is a welcome inclusion in the system. Edit: Also there are built in funnel rules. *Chef’s Kiss*
I have played a single game with it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I ran Cluster Fuck Inn (from 17th Century Minimalism Mini Adventure pack), thanks to Jon Davis for running it on The Adventure Archives Weekly Scroll. It got me to dust off my copy and give it a go. It was a success!
Bastards was enough of a backbone to keep the game going but allowed me to house some rules and give it the feel i wanted at the table. The game removes many assumptions about playing an RPG at the table by not including specific setting information. Sure there are monsters and equipment listed and this can inform the setting obviously but as with anything the framework is enough to give me what I need to adapt anything to run with Bastards.
This is a quick one, and if anyone needs more information there are plenty of places to find that information.
